April has come and gone so quickly. Finishing up the last month of my education has been crazy, and my book reading has decreased for this month with trying to finish everything up. But nonetheless, here are a couple books I've read (or am in the process of reading from this past month) and a few of my thoughts on them.
Walking on Water: Reflections on Faith and Art by
Madeleine L'Engle. For any artist or designer that holds any sort of faith or curiosity about God, this book is absolutely beautiful. I come back to it time and time again, and in this last season of ending school and defining where I am at as an artist, this book has been essential. Even friends of mine that have no artistic ability whatsoever have been totally blown away and impressed by this book. You can even just focus in on a random chapter title that peaks your interest, the book doesn't have to be read all at once in the logical order it goes in, which I love.
The Inner Voice of Love by Henri J.M. Nouwen. Really short chapters on really relevant things, it's one of those cases where I end up highlighting the whole book. Need I say more? Henri Nouwen is so inspiring and so rooted in his faith.
The Silent Wife by A.S.A. Harrison. It was a bestseller on Amazon for weeks and weeks on end, so I had to see what all the hype was all about. Reminds me a lot of the vibe of Gone Girl, just not as creepy and eery. Totally not my usual type of book, but I'm almost done and I'm loving it. It's the story of a husband and wife where you already know in advanced how the ending will go, you just are unaware as the reader what gets you from Point A to Point B. It's super interesting and a pretty quick read.
Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell. I started reading this book a few days ago because I wanted another cutsy book like The Fault in Our Stars or Me Before You. I got in a niche of just adoring unique love bestselling love stories, and so this was next on my list.
In about a week I set off for a little European adventure, you can bet I have a whole bunch of new books on my Kindle ready for the bus rides from country to country, and I bought a few actual books to bring along too for fun (sometimes reading off an electronic device gets old and you yearn for the real thing, ya know?) Some of the books I'm stoked about are Tattoos on the Heart, Wednesdays were Pretty Normal, Wild, Outliers, Things We Set on Fire, and I've been meaning to read The Hiding Place for the longest time too. Then I'm bringing along a copy of Eat Pray Love to make Italy feel even sweeter.
